Global Choreo!

Let the world unite in celebration of Frankie Manning’s one hundredth birthday! This is a call to Lindy Hoppers around the world to perform and post a video of this dance, in a global tribute to Frankie!

Frankie Manning originally choreographed The Lindy Chorus hoping that it would become a part of his legacy and we are pleased to further this part of his legacy by making it the official dance of the Centennial celebrations! Learn, dance and enjoy!

Music: Wednesday Night Hop, Andy Kirk*
Here’s the song on Grooveshark and YouTube.

How to Participate – Step by Step

  1. Follow the video to learn the Frankie 100 choreography, Frankie’s Lindy Chorus!
  2. Film your community dancing the choreo and upload it to YouTube with the tag Frankie100 and the title “Happy Frankie 100 from XXX” (ex. Happy Frankie 100 from Singapore, Happy Frankie 100 from Toronto, etc.)
  3. For mentions on other social media, please use #Frankie100
  4. Be creative! The film might be at your Frankie 100 party or you might film it on another day in an interesting setting. Think costumes, props, location, anything you like to make it fun and festive.
  5. Send an email to info@frankie100.com with a link to your video and we’ll add it to the Frankie 100 blog.

    1. There is no deadline. Some people will submit the videos before Frankie’s birthday and some after. It’s up to you.

  1. the slower song in the video above sounds very familiar (duh), I am sure I have danced to it many times.
what is the title/band? and best of luck on this joyous event!

    1. Easy Does It. 🙂 For newer dancers, they can use this slower option, but we’re mainly hoping that people will use the song for which the routine was written, Wednesday Night Hop.

  2. Question: the above description of the choreography ends at the shimmy. Is there no Around the World with Points sequence? My dancers have learned the whole thing, do I need to amend it?
    Thanks.

    1. We didn’t locate a video of Frankie doing the ending so we’ve ended the notes according to this video… but if your students know the rest, please go for it!

  4. Hi! Lindy hoppers in Trento, Italy, are happy to be part of this great initiative! Being a relatively young scene, it will take us a little bit longer, but we are planning to submit our video in June! Cheers.

  5. Tampa Bay, Florida will be joining the global Frankie 100 celebration on Wednesday May 7th at the Gulfport Casino Swing Night! We’ll run through, dance, then video the Lindy Chorus twice outdoors during the 6-7pm lesson, once street-side and once waterfront-side of the Gulfport Casino. At 9:30pm, we’ll dance and video the Lindy Chorus inside the ballroom. Dancing happens 8-11pm. We’re looking forward to it! http://www.SwingTime.info

  11. Hi friends, we are Swing Forever! Mexico and we are very happy to be part of the festivities! On May 18 we began with a clandestine social dance dedicated to our great teacher at the esplanade of the Monument to the Revolution in downtown of Mexico city, here we danced and recorded the global routine outdoors. Later on May 24, we organized a party to celebrate together, friends and family, enlivened with live music by Magnolia Jazz Band. We danced all night, remember a few fragments of Frankie Manning life and recorded again the global routine and the “shim sham”. The scene in Mexico is very young yet, but is growing with great enthusiasm. Here is the link to our video Frankie Happy 100 from Mexico. With all our love to Frankie. Cheers!!!
